Book of the Week: I Spy School Days

This is the book of the week for a few reasons.

1. I Spy books are great! They encourage focus, strategy, and observation skills. They can also help your child learn the vocabulary of school!

2. Many families have expressed to me that during those ’5-10′ minutes before they leave for school (when mom or dad is getting their coffee, newspaper, etc.), they have their child work on a computer or IPAD.  This is usually a great way to get a little learning in when you have a short period of time.  The parents are then expressing to me that when it is time to go to school, their child does not want to get off of the technology.  This situation can be very frustrating for both parents and children.  Even though children start learning limits from a very early age, it is still hard for them to understand why something fun has to end.

Here is the fix… I SPY BOOKS!!! I SPY books are engaging and fun and will surely keep your little one independently occupied (so you can still have your mom or dad time). Children love them. Then can travel with you, or you can put a book mark in it and come back to it later. We use I SPY books like this one in the classroom, and using them at home would help this routine!

Have you ever read an I SPY book with your child?
