Book of the Week: P is for Passport

This week’s book of the week is P is for Passport by Davin Scillian. This book is a children’s alphabet book. As a teacher, I have studied different kinds of alphabet books. Some are very simple, some follow a pattern, some are very visual, some are more mature. You can keep this alphabet book around your house for years. For a younger reader, you can share simple letter/sound relationships as you turn the pages. However, on each page, each letter is connected to a wealth of knowledge about animals and other worldly things. Your older reader will be mesmerized by the non-fiction material presented in this book.
This book is a perfect one for car trips and other types of travel with your family. You can become researchers, and even create your own P is for Passport alphabet book from your own travels. For example, from my trip to Italy, I could have done something like this.
A is for Arrival at a new place to explore. The plane landed and we were all the way in Italy.
B is for the Beach on the coast of Italy. It is rocky, instead of sandy. The water is perfect!
This is an example of an activity you can do with your child in the car, and during your trip. This book can inspire some very creative projects and can teach you and your family a lot about the world!
