Can you believe that the last month of summer has arrived so quickly?  For us, the past 6 weeks of summer vacation have been filled with many trips to the park, splashing around in the local pools, playing in the yard with friends, a wedding, a honeymoon, and some much-needed family time.  Well, in our 10 years in education, we have found that August tends to be a month where families go on short driving vacations whether it’s to grandma’s house, to a friend’s house a few hours away, or just a quick day trip to see an amazing sight close to home.  Since these car trips can often be filled with long stretches of highways and traffic, we thought we could give you some of our favorite games to take with you on the road.  Most need little to no preparation at all and they are sure to keep you and your kids occupied for hours.

Lauren and I will both be traveling as well this month, and I will also be planning Sloane’s first birthday!  We will keep you updated on the games we play on the road, and will surely be looking for suggestions for first birthday party ideas.  With both of us traveling and often no internet access, we will be posting less this month.  We will still be posting our weekly book, snack, and app picks, but look out for our August themed posts on Wednesday’s and Friday’s.
